The Pollinator Project hosted two forums at Les Cotils, St. Peter Port, on Wednesday 23rd October 2019. We were joined by a great range of stakeholders including a good number of States Deputies and key civil servants, as well as representatives from the utility companies, NGOs, landscape contractors, sports facilities, garden centres, etc who contributed their thoughts and views.
Presentations were made by several speakers from the UK who have direct experience of either operating pesticide free or working with councils and government bodies to switch to alternatives. A number of local contributors also joined us to offer a local perspective.
The forums were a great success and gave us a deeper understanding of the issues surrounding the use of pesticides. The Pollinator Project has now engaged with Guernsey’s Environment and Infrastructure Committee to set an agenda for moving the island towards a pesticide free status.
